Spirit bird

Common Goldeneye

Bucephala clangula

"Piercing yellow eyes and a sturdy, grounded spirit"

By passing on the busy hummers and nervous shorebirds, you revealed a preference for the intense, observant, and heavy-hitting energy of owls and hawks. The Common Goldeneye matches that steady, piercing gaze from your selfie, trading frantic fluttering for a calm, hardy presence on the river.

A note on your bird: it wasn't picked from the 10 you swiped through — those were just the warm-up. It was chosen from our full flock of 100 iconic Canadian birds, matching the pattern of what moved you. That's why it may be one you never met on your journey.
