Varied Thrush

Ixoreus naevius

"Dapper, slightly eccentric, and totally distinct."

You passed on the common Robin and those somber Great Gray Owls, preferring the intricate patterns of the Woodpecker and the sleek flair of the Waxwing. The Varied Thrush matches your expressive, slightly mischievous selfie energy with its bold 'necklace' and sharp, sophisticated plumage. You clearly have a taste for birds that balance high-contrast style with a hint of forest-dwelling mystery.

A note on your bird: it wasn't picked from the 10 you swiped through — those were just the warm-up. It was chosen from our full flock of 100 iconic Canadian birds, matching the pattern of what moved you. That's why it may be one you never met on your journey.
