Spirit bird

Northern Flicker

Colaptes auratus

"Golden-hearted explorer with a steady, warm gaze."

Your preference for the earthy tones of the Dusky Grouse and the rugged spirit of the Swainson's Hawk shows you value substance over flash. The Northern Flicker matches your warm, textured Patagonia style and captures that kind, approachable twinkle in your eyes. Unlike the 'passed' small, frantic birds, this one has a grounded presence and a subtle, sophisticated flair.

A note on your bird: it wasn't picked from the 10 you swiped through — those were just the warm-up. It was chosen from our full flock of 100 iconic Canadian birds, matching the pattern of what moved you. That's why it may be one you never met on your journey.
