Spirit bird

Northern Flicker

Colaptes auratus

"A spirited ground-dweller with eccentric flair."

You passed on the delicate and standard backyard birds in favor of the bold Kingfisher and Hummingbird, suggesting a love for creatures with distinct 'headwear' and attitude. Your hooded look and sharp glasses mirror the Flicker's unique, speckled profile and intense, focused gaze. You're a rare bird who finds beauty in the details of the earth rather than just the high canopy.

A note on your bird: it wasn't picked from the 10 you swiped through — those were just the warm-up. It was chosen from our full flock of 100 iconic Canadian birds, matching the pattern of what moved you. That's why it may be one you never met on your journey.
