Spirit bird

Pileated Woodpecker

Dryocopus pileatus

"A bold, crested force of the forest."

You passed on the common Robin and small sparrows in favor of birds with striking, rhythmic patterns like the Northern Flicker and Ruffed Grouse. Your focused, slightly intense selfie energy perfectly matches this large carpenter's loud presence and industrious spirit. You aren't interested in the ordinary; you belong with the most spectacular, crest-wearing drummer in the woods.

A note on your bird: it wasn't picked from the 10 you swiped through — those were just the warm-up. It was chosen from our full flock of 100 iconic Canadian birds, matching the pattern of what moved you. That's why it may be one you never met on your journey.
